Youngstown Phantoms

We didn’t have a ton of time.

And we knew this was a big opportunity for placing effective top-of-funnel-focused creative.

Working with our Creative Director and Marketing Director, I devised a script that would allow us to take the audience from the game, into our world for just a moment, and back to hockey.

Using our brand requirements and the sponsor’s technical specifications as a guide, we decided to compare a smartphone without a case, screen protector, etc., with a professional hockey player playing without their protective gear on.

Then, combining stock footage, our own footage, 3D renders, motion graphics and color grading, I edited the piece together in time with my voiceover track.

Finally, we wanted to leave the audience with a specific call to action and reward for supporting the team. We made a specific promo code for fans in attendance to use on their first online order through our site and Shopify storefront.

We sponsored a hockey team.

As part of that deal, we got to play commercials at their home games, accompanied by other motion graphics playing around the arena.
